Is Music Score available in ChatGPT?
Compose is the current Music Score functionality. Its public ChatGPT listing is coming soon; the Try now buttons currently open ChatGPT. You can already open existing score files in the Music Score Player. Practice and Learn are planned features.
How do I compose music with Music Score?
Once Music Score is connected in ChatGPT, mention @Music Score and describe what you want to write. You can specify instruments, chords, tempo, or rhythm. ChatGPT can help you discuss your choices and request changes to the score.
Can I dictate an idea?
Yes. Use ChatGPT’s dictation input to turn your spoken instructions into a prompt. Describe the music in words, just as you would in a typed message.
Can I listen to and change the score?
Music Score provides sampled piano playback alongside the notation and timeline grid. In ChatGPT, ask for changes and listen again. The examples on this page play fixed scores; their chat messages illustrate the conversation.
The guitar blues example uses piano sound to play the written chord rhythm. The jazz chart also uses piano sound to play its written chord rhythm.
Which files can I import and export?
The standalone Music Score Player opens Music Score JSON, MusicXML (.xml or .musicxml), and compressed MusicXML (.mxl). Export PDF for printing, MusicXML for editing in a notation app, or Music Score JSON to reopen later.
What is the Music Score Player?
It is the standalone browser player for opening a score, listening, reading pages, and exporting files. It does not compose through chat. Open Music Score Player.
Where is my music stored?
In the standalone Music Score Player, imported files are processed locally in your browser. Scores and playback settings stay in memory, are not uploaded, and are cleared when you refresh or close the page.
These browser-local statements apply to the standalone player. Composing inside ChatGPT uses ChatGPT and the connected Music Score service, so that workflow has different data handling.
What sounds and scores are used here?
Playback uses sampled piano sound. Full sound and notation-font attributions are available under More → Credits in the Music Score Player.
The pop, ballad, blues, and jazz examples were written for this website. The product-area icons are from the OpenAI Apps SDK UI library. The classical example is an opening excerpt of Beethoven’s Für Elise; the beginner example is the Happy Birthday melody by Mildred J. Hill. Both were transcribed from historical editions.
